domaine le galantin - bandol
Founded in 1972, Domaine Le Galantin is located in Plan du Castellet, considered by many oenophiles to be the best production area for Bandol due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The Bandol appellation, located in the Provence region, is known for making the best rosés in France. Year after year, Domaine Le Galantin is among the best ranked from this region.
Céline and Jérôme, the brother-sister duo who have run the estate since 1999, are very discreet, which is why this family estate has perhaps gone unnoticed for so many years. It will take just one sip to realize how much of a hidden gem the estate is!
As of 2019, Le Galantin currently owns 30 hectares of vineyards that are all certified High Environmental Value (HVE). Its plots are maintained with the utmost care and its viticulture complies with organic standards. Grown on hills with soils rich in clay and red limestone, the estate's white wines are made from indigenous grapes of Rolle, Ugni and Clairette, while the rosé and red wines are made primarily from Mourvèdre and Grenache.
In the cellar, the wines are made in a very minimalist way and with little intervention. The white and rosé are fully fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, while the reds are aged for a very long time in oak barrels and bottles.
One sip of their wine will make you dream of the beautiful landscapes of the South of France.
